AI for Database vs Akkio — why AI for Database wins
Connect Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB or Google Sheets and ask in plain English: instant answers, dashboards, alerts and scheduled workflows, with read-only access by default.
| Akkio | AI for Database | |
|---|---|---|
| Our pick | Good, but short on reliability | Recommended |
| Rating | ★★★☆☆ 3.1 | n/a |
| Best for | Non-technical users who want answers from a CSV/Excel without writing SQL | People who ask their database questions in English and want an answer, a chart or an alert without writing SQL |
| Pricing | Small files / ~$29-45/month | Free, no card / Top up $10, $25, $50 or $100 |
Where Akkio falls short
- Privacy/data leak concerns
- …at least. The recruiter ghosted me, so I figured I’d apply directly. Lo and behold the recruiter then emailed me. (Btw akkio.ai will ghost
- Pricing scales with file size or seats
- Loses ground vs. a full BI suite for connected warehouses
Why AI for Database wins
- Connects read-only by default, so a chat window cannot write to production
- Plain-English questions instead of a SQL round trip through whoever is free
- Dashboards and reports generated in one click rather than assembled
